Step 1.Organizing the teaching 1.Greetings 2.Sing an English song. Step 2. Revision: 1.Play “What day is today?” to review days of the week,months of the year,and ordinal numbers. 2.Play “Spell It” to review “gift”.Ask for a volunteer to draw a gift on the BB after the class has successfully spelled the word. Step 3.Key concepts: Christmas Christmas tree holiday lights 1.Introduce: a.Explain that in this unit LiMing learns about Christmas .Discuss what the Ss already know about this western holiday. Who is Santa?What is a Christmas tree?Do people give gift at Christmas? b.Use a real light bulb to demonstrate “lights”. c.Demonstrate “Christmas tree” with the poster. Explain that most people have a Christmas tree in their homes at Christmas and that they decorate it. d.Demonstrate and explain “holiday”in English.Ask the Ss to name holidays in China. 2.Student book: a.Note other vocabulary this lesson intriduces:special, invite, bring and give. b.Note the word “toy”. The Ss may already know what this word means. c.Play the audiotape as the Ss follow in their books. 3.Practice: Play the game “Go fish” to practice the key vocabulary.
