GeneralDescription
TheLM118seriesareprecisionhighspeedoperationalam-plifiersdesignedforapplicationsrequiringwidebandwidthandhighslewrate.TheyfeatureafactoroftenincreaseinspeedovergeneralpurposedeviceswithoutsacrificingDCperformance.
TheLM118serieshasinternalunitygainfrequencycompen-sation.Thisconsiderablysimplifiesitsapplicationsincenoexternalcomponentsarenecessaryforoperation.However,unlikemostinternallycompensatedamplifiers,externalfre-quencycompensationmaybeaddedforoptimumperfor-mance.Forinvertingapplications,feedforwardcompensa-tionwillboosttheslewratetoover150V/µsandalmostdoublethebandwidth.Overcompensationcanbeusedwiththeamplifierforgreaterstabilitywhenmaximumbandwidthisnotneeded.Further,asinglecapacitorcanbeaddedtoreducethe0.1%settlingtimetounder1µs.
ThehighspeedandfastsettlingtimeoftheseopampsmakethemusefulinA/Dconverters,oscillators,activefilters,
sampleandholdcircuits,orgeneralpurposeamplifiers.ThesedevicesareeasytoapplyandofferanorderofmagnitudebetterACperformancethanindustrystandardssuchastheLM709.
TheLM218isidenticaltotheLM118exceptthattheLM218hasitsperformancespecifiedovera−25˚Cto+85˚Ctem-peraturerange.TheLM318isspecifiedfrom0˚Cto+70˚C.
